When a person died of snakebite, the Next of Keen is entitled to get Rs 4 Lakhs as an Ex-gratia assistance. (https://srcodisha.nic.in/exgratia-assistance.php)
The Special Relief Organization headed by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) gives Rs. 4 Lakhs to the NOKs of the snakebite victim.
The ex-gratia payment system is done in a transparent manner by the SRC through the DAMPS (Disaster Assistance Monitoring & Payment System)

How to get the ex-gratia?
Common public must know the procedures to get the ex-gratia for snakebite deaths. We explain the procedure in a simple manner for the benefit of the common man.
1st step – Take the snakebite victim to the nearest hospital, and follow the medical advice.
2nd step – Inform the local Police Station, because snakebite is an MLC (Medico Legal Case). (This is generally done by the medical officer on duty at the causality).
3rd step – If the snakebite victim dies in the hospital or enroute hospital, ensure Post Mortem (PM) examination of the dead body. Without PM no ex-gratia can be claimed.
4thstep– Simultaneously inform the local Revenue Inspector (RI) about the snakebite death within 24 hrs. The RI then sends a preliminary report to the local Tehsildar through the DAMPS on the same day. The Tehsildar then sends his/her report to the concerned Collectorate.
5thstep – After the PM findings confirms the cause of death due to snakebite, submit the same to the RI.
6th step – The RI verifies the documents and goes for on the field inspection.
7th step – The RI checks with the neighbor of the snakebite death victim about the incident and/or with the local public representative.
8th step – The RI submits the final report with PM report, Police UD case no. etc. to the Tehsildar. The NOK is crucial here. The RI identifies and attaches the bank details the NOK.
9th step – The Tehsildar sends his final report to the Collectorate within time bound limit.
10th step – The sanctioning authority then submits the file to the office of SRC.
11th step – The SRC after verifying the facts sends Rs. 4 Lakhs to the bank account of the NOK of the snakebite death victim through online transfer.

- The entire process normally takes as minimum time as possible to sanction the Ex-gratia amount.
- Therefore, to get the Ex-gratia assistance of Rs. 4 Lakhs the 1st important thing to conduct the mandatory Post Mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. The next is to inform the RI within 24 hrs. of the death.

ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଅର୍ଥ ରାଶି କିପରି ପାଇବେ ?
ସାପକାମୁଡାରେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ରେ ମିଳିବାକୁ ଥିବା ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ରାଶି ବିଷୟରେ ସାଧାରଣ ଜନତା ଜାଣିବା ନିହାତି ଆବଶ୍ୟକ। ସାଧାରଣ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ସୁବିଧା ପାଇଁ ଆମେ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପଦ୍ଧତିକୁ ସରଳ ବ୍ୟାଖ୍ୟା କରୁଛୁ ।
୧ମ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – ସାପ କାମୁଡାର ଶିକାର ପୀଡିତଙ୍କୁ ନିକଟସ୍ଥ ଡାକ୍ତରଖାନାକୁ ନିଅନ୍ତୁ ଏବଂ ଡାକ୍ତରୀ ପରାମର୍ଶ ଅନୁସାରେ ଚିକିତ୍ସା କରନ୍ତୁ ।
୨ୟ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ପୋଲିସ ଥାନାକୁ ସୂଚନା ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ, କାରଣ ସର୍ପାଘାତ ହେଉଛି ଏକ MLC (ମେଡିକୋ ଲିଗାଲ୍ କେସ୍) । (ସାଧାରଣତଃ ଡ୍ୟୁଟିରେ ଥିବା ଡାକ୍ତରୀ ଅଧିକାରୀ ଏହି ସୂଚନା ନିକଟସ୍ଥ ପୁଲିସ ଫାଣ୍ଡି କୁ ଦେଇଥାନ୍ତି)
୩ୟ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – ଯଦି ସର୍ପାଘାତ ରୋଗୀ ଡାକ୍ତରଖାନାରେ କିମ୍ବା ଡାକ୍ତରଖାନା ନେବା ବାଟରେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁବରଣ କରନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ମୃତ ଶରୀରର ପୋଷ୍ଟ ମୋର୍ଟମ (PM) ପରୀକ୍ଷା ନିଶ୍ଚିତ କରାନ୍ତୁ । ବିନା ପୋଷ୍ଟ ମୋର୍ଟମ ରେ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ରାଶି ଦାବି କରାଯାଇପାରିବ ନାହିଁ ।
୪ର୍ଥ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – 24 ଘଣ୍ଟା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସର୍ପାଘାତ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ବିଷୟରେ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ରାଜସ୍ୱ ନୀରିକ୍ଷକ (RI) ଙ୍କୁ ଜଣାନ୍ତୁ । ଏହା ପରେ RI ସେହି ଦିନ ହିଁ DAMPS ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ତହସିଲଦାରଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରାଥମିକ ରିପୋର୍ଟ ପଠାଇଥାନ୍ତି । ତହସିଲଦାର ତା’ପରେ ତାଙ୍କ ରିପୋର୍ଟ ସଂପୃକ୍ତ ଜିଲ୍ଲାପାଳଙ୍କ କାର୍ଜ୍ୟାଳୟକୁ ପଠାନ୍ତି ।
୫ମ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – ସାପ କାମୁଡ଼ିବା କାରଣରୁ ହିଁ ମୃତ୍ଯୁ ହୋଇଛି ବୋଲି PM ରିପୋର୍ଟ ବାହାରିବା ପରେ, ସେହି ରିପୋର୍ଟ କୁ RI ଙ୍କୁ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ ।
୬ଷ୍ଠ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – RI ସବୁ କାଗଜପତ୍ର ତନଖି କରି କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ଯାଞ୍ଚ ପାଇଁ ଯାଆନ୍ତି ।
୭ମ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – RI ସର୍ପାଘାତ ମୃତ୍ୟୁର ଶିକାର ହୋଇଥିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଙ୍କ ପଡ଼ୋଶୀ ଏବଂ / କିମ୍ବା ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ଜନ ପ୍ରତିନିଧିଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରନ୍ତି ।
୮ମ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – RI ନିଜର ଅନ୍ତିମ ରିପୋର୍ଟ ତହସିଲଦାରଙ୍କୁ ଦାଖଲ କରନ୍ତି, ଯେଉଁଥିରେ କି PM ରିପୋର୍ଟ ସହିତ, ପୂଲିସ UD କେଶ ନଂ ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ସଂଲଗ୍ନ ଥାଏ । ଏଠାରେ ନିକଟତମ ଉତ୍ତରାଧିକାରୀ (NOK) ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ । RI ଉତ୍ତରାଧିକାରୀ (NOK) ଙ୍କୁ ଚିହ୍ନଟ କରି ତାଙ୍କର ବ୍ୟାଙ୍କ ଖାତାର ବିବରଣୀକୁ ସଂଲଗ୍ନ କରନ୍ତି ।
୯ମ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – ତହସିଲଦାର ସୀମିତ ସମୟ ସୀମା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଜିଲ୍ଲାପାଳଙ୍କ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟାଳୟକୁ ତାଙ୍କର ଅନ୍ତିମ ରିପୋର୍ଟ ପଠାନ୍ତି ।
୧୦ମ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – ମଞ୍ଜୁରକାରୀ କର୍ତ୍ତୃପକ୍ଷ ତାପରେ SRCଙ୍କ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟାଳୟରେ ଫାଇଲ୍ ଦାଖଲ କରନ୍ତି ।
୧୧ଶ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ – ସମସ୍ତ ତଥ୍ୟ ଯାଞ୍ଚ କରିବାପରେ SRC ଙ୍କ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟାଳୟରୁ ଅନଲାଇନ୍ ଟ୍ରାନ୍ସଫର ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ସାପ କାମୁଡାରେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁବରଣ କରିଥିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଉତ୍ତରାଧିକାରୀ (NOK) ଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟାଙ୍କ ଆକାଉଣ୍ଟକୁ 4 ଲକ୍ଷ ଟଙ୍କା ପଠାଯାଏ ।
